The successful candidate will fulfil the role of Scientific Officer I (level 3) Catchment Science and Modelling in the Catchment Science and Management Unit within the Water Programme, in the Office of Evidence and Assessment. The Unit’s role is to assess the risks and pressures impacting on the water environment, to provide advice on suitable measures to mitigate those impacts to support the river basin management planning process, and to track progress with implementation of the national river basin management plan. Collaboration and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to deliver robust integrated catchment assessments is an essential component of the work. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of catchment science modelling and assessment tools to evaluate the pressures impacting on the water environment. The role will have a strong emphasis on tools to assess hydro morphological and other land use pressures, within a catchment science framework. These assessments will inform the scientific, technical and modelling foundation to support the evidence base underpinning implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD.
