Description

The EPA has an immediate vacancy for Scientific Officer I (Level 3. The immediate vacancy will be filled in the research programme Office of Environmental Assessment Radiation Protection and Environmental Monitoring, EPA Headquarters Wexford or EPA Regional Inspectorate, Dublin. The EPA will form panel from this recruitment campaign from which future Scientific Officer I (Level 3) vacancies may be filled.  The principal responsibilities, of a Scientific Officer I (Level 3) in the EPA relate to the implementation of the EPA’s statutory functions, as a Scientific Officer I (Level 3) the candidate will have responsibility for managing people and projects and implementation of the Annual Work Programme of their relevant office to which they are assigned. The success candidate will play a strategically important role in identifying environmental issues, informing policy and developing solutions.  They will support the development and management of the EPA's environmental research programme across climate action, circular economy, health and the environment and natural environment. They will Coordination and delivery of research activity and thematic priorities for an assigned research hub. They will support the management of the annual research budget of €11m and an existing research commitment of €26m to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of EPA’s research programme. The successful candidate must hold an appropriate degree (NFQ Level 8) in an environmentally relevant scientific discipline and a minimum of five years’ relevant work experience.  The full range of duties and the essential requirements for this position are set out in the Candidate Information Booklet.
