Description

The EPA has an Immediate vacancy for a Programme Manager to lead the EPA’s Research and Evidence Programme. This is an exciting career opportunity to join the EPA’s senior management team to lead and influence the development and communication of impactful scientific research and evidence on Ireland’s environment. The Research and Evidence Programme is based in the EPA’s Office of Evidence and Assessment (OEA. The EPA is the primary source of scientific evidence and advice on Ireland’s environment and this Office is where accurate information is collected to provide reliable and meaningful assessments of our environment.  The successful candidate will lead and manage the Research and Evidence Programme which covers four main areas including: • Ireland’s environmental research programme which funds a substantial programme of research across mainly the higher education sector with an annual budget of €11m  • Data science, data analytics and GIS to leverage EPA expertise and evidence on the environment to provide new insights and improved communications. • Integrated environmental assessments including delivery of the EPA’s flagship State of the Environment report and engagement with the European Environment Agency. • Development and coordination of EPA positions on key policies, plans and programmes including delivery of the EPA’s role as a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) authority  The successful candidate will lead this broadly scoped Programme and manage a multidisciplinary team of 22 people.  The Programme Manager also holds a key position in the senior management team of the EPA and will report to the Director of the Office. As such, the successful candidate will have responsibility for developing and implementing the EPA’s strategy and embedding a strong organisational culture that contributes to the achievement of the EPA’s values and overall objectives.  The successful candidate must hold an appropriate degree (NFQ Level 8) in Science or Engineering with a 10 years’ relevant work experience to include a minimum of 5 years’ senior management experience.
