The EPA has a vacancy for a Scientific Officer I (Level 3) Catchment Scientist.     The successful candidate will lead a team within the Catchment Science and Management Unit in the Office of Evidence and Assessment. The objective of the Unit is the delivery of the science to underpin the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) in Ireland, and to work collaboratively with others to drive improvements in water quality. The successful candidate will be responsible for the evaluation of the pressures impacting on the water environment, and collaboration and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to implement an integrated catchment assessment and management approach to protecting water.   The appointee will be assigned a technical role with management responsibilities, reporting to the Senior Scientific Officer or another designated officer.    The successful candidate must hold an appropriate degree (NFQ Level 8) in Science, Engineering or Geography with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience.  A post graduate qualification in catchment or water science would be desirable.   The full range of duties and the essential requirements for this position are set out in the Candidate Information Booklet.
