Situated in the south-eastern corner of Ireland, Wexford Festival Opera is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading and best loved annual opera festivals. Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, the Festival has gained a reputation for reviving long-neglected or forgotten masterpieces and establishing an internationally recognised reputation for high-quality productions that bring thousands of opera-lovers flocking to Wexford from all over the world each year. The Board of Wexford Festival Opera is seeking an Executive Director for a newly created joint leadership position with the Artistic Director. The Executive Director and Artistic Director will work collegiately to provide clear and consistent leadership for the organisation, developing and delivering the Strategic Plan and ensuring the. Festival fulfils its artistic aims, whilst remaining financially viable and responsive to its audiences. To achieve this will require some restructuring of the organisation and the Executive Director will need the vision and energy to lead on these changes. Our ideal candidate is an inspirational and enthusiastic senior leader in the performing arts or the wider cultural sector, with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Experience in strategic marketing with a track record in delivering marketing-led business development and brand management is essential, as is demonstrable success in generating substantial income from multiple sources. The ability to drive the company’s business through entrepreneurship and innovation is important. Our Executive Director will have a genuine commitment to growing local participation and wider engagement with the Festival and to promoting diversity and inclusion. You will be passionate about continuing to develop opera as an art-form and the role that Wexford Festival Opera can play at a national and international level.
