We are working closely with a valued client of ours to file the role of Shipping Operations and Admin Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work with one of the largest privately owned companies in the South East. Remote working 2/3 days a week makes this an attractive offering in this Full Time Permanent role.    Although Shipping experience and knowledge is a definite advantage, our client is open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds such as Logistics, Cargo holding or related disciplines. Job Summary: Manage all aspects of the shipping business including promoting the business to customers and prospective customers, liaising with customers on specific cargoes. Supply DA’s to shipping prospects as requested. Arrange stevedoring crews for each cargo as required, supervise loading and unloading with a special focus on Health & Safety, recruit and train stevedores as required. Maintain and update Shipping Health & Safety Statement, ensure all required Health & Safety training is carried out and properly recorded, contribute to continual improvement in Health & Safety. Ensure delivery of an efficient and cost-effective stevedoring service, manage any related storage, transport and warehousing requirements. Key criteria: Planning – Demonstratable organisational skills. Supervision – Strong Team Leadership and Supervisory skills. Administration – Both computerised and Manual. Ability to pay attention to detail in a complicated operating situation is essential. Health & Safety – Experience and solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations. Ability to brief both own staff and shipping crew of policies. Stocktaking – Stock control and management. Waste Management – Keep up to date with all relevant procedures for handling waste. The Person:   The right candidate will be an exceptional team leader with the ability to get the best out his/her team. They will be diligent in their paperwork where small mistakes could lead to much larger problems. Focused on health and safety in this tough but enjoyable environment.   The reward: Excellent rate of pay commensurate with experience. Full autonomy answering only to the Managing Director. Remote working possibility on non shipping days (normally 2 or 3 days per week. Standard Monday to Friday working week. (1 Saturday maybe required 1 or 2 times per month.
