Successful transformation in areas such as communications, climate action and environment will define this century.  With responsibility for these and other areas, the mission of the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment is to make Ireland a leader in that transformation.  Reporting to the Secretary General, the Head of Natural Resources and Waste Policy will be a member of the Department’s senior management team.  S/he will lead what is a substantial regulatory function, overseeing the development of policy and legislation for the waste management, hydrocarbon, minerals, geoscience and inland fisheries sectors.  S/he will also have responsibility for leading and managing the exploration and exploitation of Ireland’s natural resources in a productive and environmentally responsible manner. The ideal candidate will have: • A proven track record in policy analysis and policy development and a demonstrated ability to lead the transition from policy to active delivery of change; • Excellent leadership, management and organisational skills with a proven ability to effectively manage and develop multidisciplinary teams across a number of locations; • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build effective relationships internally and externally at a senior level with key state agencies, local authorities, commercial organisations and other stakeholders; This is a Top Level Appointment Committee (TLAC) position.
